Donation made to Okehampton foodbank

Following the Okehampton & District Agricultural Association’s Annual General Meeting at the end of February, it was decided to give a donation of £1,000 to the Okehampton Foodbank. The Okehampton & District Agricultural Association is a local Charity founded in 1890 with its objective being the advancement of local agriculture, horticulture and connected businesses, and includes holding an Annual Show. The Okehampton Foodbank is run by volunteers with the aim of helping individuals and families in crisis by providing free emergency food. This organisation has provided a vital service to the community particularly within the last few months with various business closures in the town and local area. The Okehampton & District Agricultural Association is keen to support the local community, and believes the aid that the Foodbank is providing for those who have lost their jobs and those who are facing financial difficulties for whatever reason, is essential. They are pleased to be able to offer this donation and their support.

The Okehampton Foodbank is run at the Baptist Church with the help of other churches. For general enquiries contact 01837 659733 or blwalton@tiscali.co.uk.
